We are working hard on version 0.20, which is set to include:

  • improvements to the fog service modules.
  • UI improvements including sortable tables.
  • A new kernel.
  • More module control via management portal.
  • Updater script
  • Other bug fixes and feature requests
We don't have a stable release date, but we are hoping to release within the next week or two.  We also want to thank all of the donors for supporting the FOG Project!

New Domain Name!

We have a new (REAL) domain name, fogproject.org!  The website should be much more stable and be much faster.

This service was paid for by donations made by the user community.  The domain name fee is paid for the year and we are currently paid up for three months of hosting.  With that being said, we would like to ask for donations to keep the site up and running.  We pay only about $4.50 a month for hosting, so any and all donations would really help us.  The old site was hosted out of my home over a dynamically based IP DSL connection, thus having less reliability.  If we can continue to pay for outside hosting with donations, we can prevent going back to my home-based hosting and hopefully continue to provide you with a more reliable and faster website.

If you would like to donate via sourceforge you can use the link below:

FOG Server VM

With the release of Version 0.19 of FOG we have also released a VMWare image.  What we set out to do with this release was to attract new users to FOG by allowing users that may not have much spare time, to run fog without much effort.  The image weighs in at just over 600MB zipped, and it based on Ubuntu server 8.04.  We do not have plans nor time to release a vm image with every release of FOG, we may release an updated vm somewhere in the ballpark of every 5 to 10 releases.  We that being said the VM does allow you upgrade to the latest version of FOG with minimal effort.

It was not our intent with this release to have users run this in a production environment, we would recommend that users wishing to run FOG in production, run it on bare metal whenever possible.
